Double Dispute - eBay Anyone?
Jul 12th, 2007 by Ryan
I love eBay..I really do. However, this last month of eBaying has been very interesting.
First, I had to list my previous laptop (the hp I had before I switched to my MacBook Pro) 3 different times before I finally had a buyer. Listing that many times was a hassle in addition to all the fees. But I finally got a buyer, right? Wrong. Of course my “buyer” has not paid me. It has been almost 3 weeks. After the first initial week, I finally got a response asking to be able to pay with cashiers check. I said, hey sure why not, I don’t really care - I’m not in a huge hurry. (Plus then I can avoid nasty Paypal fees.) Naturally the check never came. Dispute Filed: Non-Paying Bidder. I think I’m going to wait until August when the school rush happens before I list it again.
Meanwhile during the laptop mess…the plot thickens….
Second, I wanted to buy a watch - a nice watch - something with a name attached - something to replace my digital $15 Wal-Mart junk that’s a disgrace to call a timepiece. So after researching and gawking, I picked the perfect one - a Citizen Eco-Drive. I got a fabulous deal on a “Brand New” Citizen timepiece which normally would retail much, much higher. Well, my “new” watch arrived with a severely scratched crystal, scratched dial, and scratched band. Well naturally I was not too happy. Instead of reacting by instinct, I decided to remain calm and settle this like a man. I ran to Mommy - Just Kidding! What really happened, was I debated with myself and came to the conclusion that I got a pretty good deal, maybe I can just live with the scratches. Eh. Didn’t work. I’m too much of a perfectionist. So I emailed the seller that same day requesting something be done about it. I was given the response that they would refund it, but not shipping. Well I was hosed a $15 shipping charge and it would cost me $7 to send it back. I was not going to settle for this.
Dispute Filed via PayPal: Damaged Goods - So after emailing back and forth several times, I think the seller does not understand my view that I should not have to pay a dime for any shipping since this is their mistake. I think the most I will get is a full refund including shipping, but I will have to cover the cost to ship it back. But we’ll see how it goes - the dispute is still open.
Double Dispute. Yeah, I’ll keep you posted.
